PRAY938 has started at Emmanuel Reformed Church!
Pastor Dirk Gieser asked our church to set our alarms and join together every day until March 5 in prayer at 9:38 to the Lord of the Harvest (“Where Is The Harvest”).
For those in our area who can, we are asking them to also join us on Thursdays at noon for an hour of such praying together until Lent (March 5). We’ll meet in the Gathering Room opposite the Emmanuel Reformed Church offices. Let’s pray together that God would bring a spiritual awakening to those in our neighborhood without Jesus as their Shepherd, and give us the privilege of being compassionate workers in that spiritual harvest of souls.
But, how can we ask God to send anyone else, if we are not already sent and moving with him?
Our first prayer should probably be, “Yes, Lord, here I am, send ME.”

Jesus’s words in Matthew 9:35-38 were given to his disciples who had already responded to his call to follow only him as Lord and Master. And, as our pastor pointed out, it is in Matthew 10 where they themselves are the ones that he, the lord of the harvest, sends out.
When we begin our day with a desire to hear and follow the voice of Jesus, what voices call the most earnestly except those who have already said “yes” to the call to bear witness to Jesus in their daily walk? Whose voices are the most compelling voices then those “all in” on the mission of Christ? They are those like the ones gathered before the throne of God who have overcome the spiritual darkness of our time by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony because they were willing to give up their lives to God, for the sake of Christ? (cf. Revelation 7:9-12, 12:10-11)
let’s take the first step in praying for the harvest by saying “yes”!
Today, let’s take a step toward saying “yes” by bowing in prayer before the Lord of the harvest, seeking to hear his voice to our hearts in these days. And then, together, as we pray to the Lord of the harvest to raise up workers that bring in a new spiritual awakening to our families and neighbors, we are selves will have first become “the called and the sent.”
